Following her attack on Trafalgar Square, Elisabeth Báthory has played her hand. Helena Carey’s life has been left devastated. Leo Harrison has been left seriously wounded, unable to save himself or his family from Elisabeth’s plan.

At Hunsden, Helena must find the strength to drag herself from despair. In doing so, she and her remaining family and friends will have to band together, make uneasy alliances and discover much of what they knew was wrong.
